Short Stories on a Long Theme Edita Liessner
How do we find connection in environments where people are physically close yet emotionally distant?
Short Stories on a Long Theme explores feelings of alienation and the human need for connection in contemporary urban life. The series combines geometric studio still-lifes with documentary photographs simplified into forms, shapes, and colour relationships. Through this visual language, human figures often appear as silhouettes, reflections or movements.
Drawing inspiration from colour theory, the work considers both the harmonies and tensions between colours and relates them to social interactions. In the dense environment of the city, where people are physically close yet emotionally distant, the project lyrically reflects on how loneliness and connection coexist, and how we search for belonging within everyday urban encounters.
